Vashi, Navi Mumba: A 40yr old male patient brought to the Emergency Room of Hiranandani Hospital, Vashi-A Fortis Network Hospital on 27th March has been shifted to a dedicated COVID-19 ward which Fortis has set-up at the Mulund hospital in Mumbai, after he was tested positive. The patient had developed a drug reaction to medication that was prescribed to him at another local hospital, after which he was brought to Hiranandani Hospital, Vashi.
When admitted at Hiranandani Hospital, Vashi, the patient showed mild symptoms but did not declare any travel history and had no history of coming in contact with any COVID-19 positive patients. However, X-rays were conducted immediately, which showed Pneumonia, and hence COVID was suspected. The patient’s throat swabs were taken and sent to Kasturba Hospital for testing, and parallelly, the patient was transferred to the isolation ward at the hospital where his treatment continued. Results received yesterday confirmed that the patient was COVID-19 positive; this was promptly notified to authorities. Subsequently, the patient’s wife’s throat swabs were also taken and sent for testing, she has been moved to the isolation ward.
Sandeep Guduru, Facility Director of Fortis hospital stated, “We strongly support the efforts taken by the authorities at Panvel Municipal Corporation, Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation and MoH-Maharashtra to contain COVID- 19 and care for patients. Our COVID-19 task-force is working in complete compliance with the authorities, helping screen and guide patients. We sincerely urge the community to practice social distancing and self-quarantine, which is the need of the hour. Importantly, we encourage everyone to seek medical aid as soon as symptoms are seen”.
